From an ML perspective, Chat-GPT really shines at general reasoning + tool usage. It’s been fine-tuned to be helpful in a wide range of scenarios, even if it’s not always perfect at any single one.
Strengths

Flexibility and comfortable switching between tasks.
Weaknesses
Less “specialized” because it’s more of a jack of all trades.
